Getting an erection may seem easy for most men, but for some it is a task that can take some time, a lot of stimulation, or may not even happen at all.

The causes are varied. Some medicines can prevent a man from getting an erection Diabetes and other illnesses, problems with the prostate, hormone imbalances, and surgery or radition therapy to the pelvis can also create problems. But many men eventually find that their problem is caused by cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, psychological stress, relationship problems, low sex drive or densitization to sex.

If you have erection problems, please see your doctor for a thorough examination as there may be medical or psychological problems behind your inability to get or keep an erection. These can be treated with medication. Below is a list of things you should consider if you are having troubles with erection quality. You may notice a huge difference in your erections and may not require medication at all!

  • Quit Smoking. It’s a no-brainer, just do it because we say so.
  • Talk to your doctor about your symptoms especially if you’re taking any antidepressants. Antidepressants are prescribed to men with premature ejaculation, so it’s no wonder that sometimes other men experience erectile dysfunction symptoms while taking SSRIs. Taking these medications can sometimes cause low libido, talk to your doctor, it’s all about finding an antidepressant that causes minimal symptoms.
  • Strengthen pelvic floor muscles by doing Kegels.
  • Cut caffeine out of your diet! I have one friend who gained half an inch in erect length because he cut out caffiene from his diet. Caffeine causes blood vessels to constrict, resulting in poorer blood circulation, especially to your member.
  • Meditation and relaxation exercises can be great at letting go of all that stress you brought home with you from work. Theres nothing like stress to put a spanner in the works, especially when you have that constant chatter happening in your head about your career.
  • Talk to your partner about your erection problems. Half of the problem with erection problems is that we as men take it to heart and let it consume us. Being open about it with your partner will take some of the stress about it off your shoulders. If you’re in a relationship, your partner obviously cares about you and I’m sure they’d be very understanding and patient.
  • Stop watching porn! Porn gives us unrealistic ideas on what sex should be like. Porn stars are professionals, they’re meant to make it look REALLY good, most of us will never experience it like that. Don’t underestimate the subconscious’s ability to take a simple porn session and blow it into up into a fullblown obsession to perform. Seriously, giving up porn will probably be the best thing you’ll ever do to fix erectile dysfunction.
